Toro Tarantino

Some weeks ago I had been asked to design a bullfight artwork for a 2 by 6 metres wall of a restaurant in the Philipiines.

The owner said:

“The whole feel of the restaurant is very Quentin Tarantino-ish…”,

this is why the painting was created in that style

Bring out your inner bullfighter!

Sometimes I really wonder for what my bullfight paintings are used. I have many examples, but one of the most marking ones for me was one day a young boy contacting me, wanted to use one of my bullfight paintings for his marching band by some event. As always, I was promised to get a photo of the T-Shirt, and of the band by the event, but as always, I did not get anything. I often wonder how fast people forget their promises, and generally their good manners on the net…

Luckily there are still people who know how to behave. The best example was a business man from the UK, who bought an original bullfight painting of me, and the copyright outright, in the intention of using it as the logo of his new company. The man was kind and respectful from the very beginning, we developed a nice relationship and we are still in friendly contact from time to time, him informing me about the progress of the company.

THIS, I LOVE!

Anyway, 2 weeks ago I was asked for the permission to use  following painting for a flyer for an event at the Crescendo Club, apparently somewhere in Ontario   (www.clubcrescendo.com). Asking what it was about, I received following answer

“This is the 10th in a series of events from around the world including Brazil, Greece, and Mexico. We bring in DJ’s of the certain ethnicity and play music with the nation’s cultural influence. In this case, for Spain, we will put up the Spanish flag around the club and wear themed Spanish outfits. We cater these events to people who appreciate the music and culture of the featured country.”

So people who will attend the event, i wish you a great time there. And don’t be scared to bring out your inner bullfighter, our world needs courageous and crazy people!

Amour Toro – The Banner

I have been asked about the Banner, I use for this blog. Well, it is painted by me, Miki (www.bullfightart.com and http://www.artmiki.com), and it was the result of some art experiments involving a classical painting of me in watercolour, and some digital art. Surprised by the results which I found quite attractive, I made a whole series of bullfight artworks in this technique, called “The Toroscapes – Bullfight in Digital Light”. The The Banner is a part of “Toroscape 18”.

The painting had to be cropped and distorted for the sake of the required banner dimensions, but for those who are interested, here is the full painting

Toroscape 18

As a result of the technique, this artwork is only available as Giclee print, digital print or poster in many different prices and on different supports.

Please contact me at miki@bullfightart.com if you are interested.

You can also purchase a print directly online in my Fine Art America Gallery

A Dream Came True…

People who have already been to Spain surely know them: the posters -called “cartel taurino” – announcing bullfight events, like the following ones

In the past, I don’t know if it is still “in”, but when tourists came to Spain they used to buy these posters, but after putting their name on the list of the bullfighters on the poster. I never did that myself, but well, it is quite a funny idea in fact…

Anyway, since I have started painting bullfight motifs, I have always dreamed that one day some corridas organising company contacts me, asking if they could use my paintings on their posters,

Well, my dream came true: Two days  ago, a company called Ferrodex contacted me , asking for my paintings, their aim being to give the fiesta a more artistic touch by the way of the posters. Ferrodex is a national Spanish company, organising all kind of events related to bull and bullfight across the whole of Spain. They even have two of their own fincas, rearing bulls and selling them for bullfight…

We might come to an agreement…

And when we do, I will also have my name on the posters… but not as a matador, as an artist!
